Newcastle United have agreed a deal with Lille to sign Belgian international Matias Fernandez-Pardo in another major move in the transfer market.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the deal with his famous “Here we go”, reporting that Newcastle will pay €60million (£51.4m) plus add-ons for the highly-rated 21-year-old.
Fernandez-Pardo has already given the green light to the Newcastle project and is expected on Tyneside to complete his medical and the remaining formalities.
Newcastle finally get their man
The Magpies have been pushing hard to bring Fernandez-Pardo to St James’ Park and have now reached an agreement after negotiations with Lille progressed rapidly.
It is another huge addition for Matthias Jaissle following the recent arrival of Nico Gonzalez from Manchester City.
Fernandez-Pardo offers exactly the sort of versatility Newcastle have been looking for. The Belgian can operate on either wing, through the middle or behind the striker, giving Jaissle several different attacking options.
At 6ft 2in, he also combines his pace and technical ability with a physical presence that could make him well suited to Premier League football.
Impressive numbers in France
Fernandez-Pardo enjoyed an excellent 2025/26 campaign with Lille, producing eight goals and seven assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
Still only 21, Newcastle are signing a player who already has considerable top-level experience but potentially has his best years ahead of him.
The reported £51.4m initial fee shows just how highly Newcastle rate him.
Another statement from Newcastle
After an incredibly busy summer of change at St James’ Park, this feels like another statement signing.
Jaissle is rapidly reshaping Newcastle’s squad and Fernandez-Pardo adds pace, unpredictability and another serious goal threat to the attack.
Providing there are no problems with his medical, Newcastle should soon be able to officially unveil their latest signing.
The Toon have got another one. ⚫⚪
