Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has wasted no time outlining the identity he wants his side to adopt, sending a clear message to the players, staff and supporters ahead of the new Premier League season.
With just three weeks until the Magpies kick off their campaign against Liverpool, Jaissle knows time is limited, but believes everyone at the club can make those weeks count.
Speaking after taking charge, the German coach admitted the challenge ahead but insisted the focus must remain on what Newcastle can control.
“The timing is not easy, it’s a challenge but we’ve said to the staff members we need to really engage and use these three weeks before Liverpool in the best possible way.
“Control the controllables, and if everyone is pulling in the same direction – players, staff and fans – it’s going to be a really interesting and successful season.”
A Style Built for St James’ Park
Perhaps the most exciting part of Jaissle’s first message was his description of the football Newcastle supporters can expect to see.
The new head coach made it clear that his teams are built around intensity, attacking intent and high-energy football.
“My football is front-footed, aggressive, vertical in our approach – I think that’s a perfect fit to Newcastle.”
Those words are likely to excite the Toon Army, who have long embraced teams that play with passion, intensity and courage. Jaissle’s philosophy appears perfectly suited to the atmosphere inside St James’ Park.
The Three Values
Beyond tactics, Jaissle also revealed the three principles that will underpin his Newcastle side:
- Trust
- Respect
- Pure commitment
These values will be expected from everyone connected with the club, creating a united environment as Newcastle begin a new era.
A Huge Season Awaits
After a summer of significant change, Newcastle enter the new campaign with fresh leadership and a squad full of exciting young talent alongside experienced Premier League players.
The challenge is considerable, but Jaissle’s first words suggest he is embracing the pressure rather than fearing it.
If Newcastle can quickly adapt to his aggressive, front-foot style, supporters could be in for an exciting season.
One thing is already certain: Matthias Jaissle has a clear vision, and now the hard work begins to turn those words into results on the pitch.
