Bruno Guimaraes Still a Newcastle United Player as Arsenal Yet to Make Formal Move

Despite weeks of speculation linking Bruno Guimaraes with Arsenal, the Newcastle United captain remains a Magpies player as the transfer saga continues.

On Sunday, Sky Sports reported that Arsenal had still not made direct contact with Newcastle United, let alone submitted a formal offer for the Brazilian midfielder. While intermediaries have reportedly explored the conditions of a potential deal, Newcastle are yet to receive an official approach.

Bruno was expected to fly directly from Brazil to join Newcastle’s pre-season training camp in La Manga, with the rest of the squad having arrived on Friday. He is due to resume training on Monday under new head coach Matthias Jaissle.

However, as things stand, there has been no official confirmation from either Newcastle United or trusted journalists that the 28-year-old has arrived in Spain, leaving supporters continuing to watch developments closely.

Newcastle Fans Continue to Wait

For Newcastle supporters, it has been one of the most dramatic summers in recent memory. With Eddie Howe’s departure, Matthias Jaissle’s arrival, and constant speculation surrounding several key players, the uncertainty around Bruno Guimaraes has only added to the tension.

Until Arsenal make a formal move, Bruno remains a Newcastle United player, and many fans will be hoping to see their captain back training with the squad this week.

A Personal Reflection

Last Monday (27 July), I headed into Newcastle city centre and finally got the chance to see the incredible Kevin Keegan tributes outside St James’ Park.

Standing there, taking it all in, was genuinely moving. The messages, scarves, flowers and memories left by supporters perfectly summed up what Kevin Keegan means to this football club. It was an emotional reminder that Newcastle United has always been about more than results and transfers—it’s about passion, loyalty and the people who make this club so special.

As the Bruno Guimaraes story continues to dominate the headlines, moments like that remind us why we all care so much. Whatever happens over the coming days, Newcastle United will always be bigger than any one player.

What do you think, Geordies? Will Bruno still be wearing black and white when the Premier League season kicks off, or do you believe Arsenal will finally submit an offer? Let us know in the comments.
