It’s been a bit of a rough summer for Newcastle United, and fans are starting to feel it.
Reports today say the club are still keen to keep captain Bruno Guimarães, even with Arsenal showing serious interest. Newcastle’s stance is that he’s not for sale, but there are also claims that Bruno might be open to the move if a deal can be worked out. (The Times)
If Bruno does end up leaving, it would be a massive blow. He’s not just the captain, he’s one of the best midfielders in the league and a huge part of the team. Replacing someone like that wouldn’t be easy at all.
From a fan’s point of view, it’s getting pretty frustrating. Every transfer window seems to bring rumours about our top players, and it makes you wonder how the club can keep building something strong if key players are always being linked with moves away.
There’s still time left in the transfer window though, and Newcastle could still bring in some new faces. There are also reports linking the club with attacking signings as they get ready for the new season. (Coming Home Newcastle)
My View
As a Newcastle fan, it sometimes feels like loyalty in football isn’t what it used to be. Fans put so much into supporting the club, and all we really want is to see players who are fully committed.
Newcastle have one of the best fanbases out there. Hopefully the club can hang on to its biggest stars, bring in some quality signings, and give us something to look forward to before the new Premier League season kicks off.
What do you think? Should Newcastle do everything they can to keep Bruno Guimarães, or is it better to let him go if he wants out?
