Newcastle United have been handed a huge boost as Yoane Wissa returned to light training this week, marking a key milestone in his recovery from a long-term knee injury.
🔥 Wissa Back on the Grass
After suffering a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury while on international duty with DR Congo, Wissa has been sidelined since pre-season. Now, manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that the forward is “back on the grass” and making strong progress.
“It’s great to see Yoane back outside. He’s been working really hard and we’re hopeful he’ll continue to progress without any setbacks,” Howe told reporters.
The 28-year-old forward was spotted taking part in light drills at the club’s Benton training facility, as Newcastle’s medical team carefully manages his return to full fitness.
⏱ Expected Return Date
Initial projections suggested a six-to-eight-week layoff, and it appears Wissa’s recovery is right on track — albeit slightly towards the longer end. He’s not yet cleared for full-contact sessions, but Newcastle are optimistic he’ll be ready to feature by early to mid-November if progress continues smoothly.
âš˝ What His Return Means for Newcastle
Wissa’s comeback will bring much-needed attacking reinforcement to Eddie Howe’s side, which has seen several changes this season. His versatility and power make him an ideal fit alongside Anthony Elanga, Nick Woltemade, and Harvey Barnes in Newcastle’s front line.
With the Magpies balancing domestic and European fixtures, Wissa’s return could offer fresh energy and creativity in the final third — especially as the club continues to rebuild its attacking chemistry.
📸 Training Ground Update
Recent photos from the training ground show Wissa jogging and performing light ball work under the supervision of Newcastle’s performance coaches. The sight has been met with excitement among fans, eager to see him make his long-awaited debut.
